The light of the Mezuzah – a view from within

Almost every Jewish house in the world can be identified by the “Mezuzah”, a parchment which must contain the letters of two chapters from the book of Deuteronomy and is hung on the door post of each room. The chapters, written only by qualified scribes, speak of the belief in one go-d and of the connection between the actions of the Jews to the consequences that follow their behavior, Consequences that will be seen through the amount of rain and prosperity.
The parchment is rolled up and hung on the door post. This piece gives us a glimpse from within the parchment, glancing at the light from above, symbolizing the heavenly light and protection the Mezuzah brings to the house, as explained by the Jewish scholars throughout history.
